Head Coach (2022-PRESENT)

2025-26: Austin Peay went 12-6 with five shutout victories in the spring, combining to outscore opponents 65-44. The Governors totaled 68 singles and 27 victories throughout the 2025-26 season with 55 singles and 22 doubles wins, respectively, in the spring alone. Yi-Ching Huang earned Second Team All-ASUN and ASUN All-Freshman Team honors, while Clemence Butavand also earned All-Freshman honors. Four Govs also were tabbed the conference’s all-academic team. After splitting their first two matches of the spring, the Governors went on to win nine of their next 10 matches from Feb. 1 into mid-March. The Govs’ winning stretch consisted of wins against rivals in Murray State (6-1, Feb. 1) and Belmont (7-0, Feb. 8) and a 3-0 comeback victory against App State, Feb. 21.

2024-25: The Governors went 8-14 overall with a 4-5 record in ASUN play to finish sixth in the league during the regular season. Denise Torrealba earned Second-Team All-ASUN honors after pacing the team with a 13-5 singles record during the spring while exclusively playing the No. 2 position. She finished tied for second on the team altogether with 18 wins during the 2024-25 season, with Luca Bohlen – who earned Academic All-ASUN honors – going 21-8 overall with a 12-7 record in the spring while primarily playing on the No. 4 court. After dropping its first four matches of the spring, APSU rallied to earn a 4-3 win at Western Kentucky and 7-0 win at Belmont, Feb. 11 and Feb. 14, respectively. The Govs then earned four-straight conference wins, March 28-April 6, outscoring opponents 23-7 during that span.

2023-24: Austin Peay went 12-9 overall with a 7-3 mark in ASUN play. Jana Leder earned First Team All-ASUN honors, becoming the second player in program history and the first since Lidia Yanes Garcia to earn First Team All-Conference honors four times, after going 8-2 in singles and 5-2 in doubles against league opponents during the spring. Leder also became the first player in program history to earn the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, in addition to being tabbed an Academic All-ASUN recipient. After an 0-4 start to the season – with road matches against Louisville and Memphis during the second week of the spring – the Governors went on to win six of their next seven contests and 10 of their next 12 to enter the 2024 ASUN Women’s Tennis Championship as the No. 5 seed. The Govs earned a 4-1 win against Kennesaw State in the opening round of the tournament, but fell to the eventual tournament champions in Stetson, 4-1, in the semifinals.

2022-23: Austin Peay went 16-7 and 6-2 in ASUN Conference play during Sorbello Morrison’s first season as the head women’s tennis coach. The Governors earned four ASUN postseason honors, with Jana Leder being tabbed First Team All-ASUN, Melody Hefti earning Second Team All-ASUN and ASUN All-Freshman Team honors, and Denise Torrealba being selected as a Third Team All-ASUN selection. It was the fifth time in program history and just the second time since 1991 that the Govs earned a quintet of league postseason awards. The Governors went 10-3 at the Governors Tennis Courts, with six shutout victories at home. APSU had a season-long six-game winning from Feb. 23- March 17, where it did not allow an opponent to score more than two points across a single match. The Governors entered the ASUN Women’s Tennis Championship as the No. 4 seed and earned a 4-0 victory against No. 13 Queens in Clarksville, before dropping a 4-3 decision to No. 5 Liberty in the quarterfinals.

Associate Head Coach (2019-22)

2021-22: The 2022 OVC Regular-Season Champions – the program’s third-straight non-COVID-affected championship season – Austin Peay went 11-7 overall and 6-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play to claim their second-straight regular-season title. After erasing a 3-1 deficit against No. 5 Murray State in the semifinals, the Govs fell to No. 2 Southeast Missouri in the title match.

2020-21: The 2021 OVC Tournament Champions, the Governors went 12-4 with a 5-2 mark in OVC play. The Governors earned four OVC postseason awards with Jana Leder being tabbed the OVC Co-Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-ASUN recipient, while Danielle Morris and Fabienne Schmidt earned Second Team All-OVC honors. After COVID-19 canceled the fall season, the Govs opened the spring going 5-1. They suffered their lone OVC losses to open the conference slate against Jacksonville State and at Southeast Missouri before winning their final five OVC regular-season matches to claim the #2 seed in the OVC Tournament. The Govs swept Murray State in the semifinals. In the championship match, the Govs trailed top-seeded Southeast Missouri, 3-1, before storming back to win their second-straight OVC Championship. The Govs then advanced to the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship for the second-straight season where they fell to No. 3 Georgia in the opening round.

2019-20: Austin Peay went 9-3 overall in the 2019-20 season. The Govs’ 2019-20 season was canceled due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic following a Feb. 28 win against IUPUI.

Assistant Coach (2012-19)

2018-19: The 2019 OVC Regular-Season and Tournament Champions, the Governors went 22-1 on the year, with a 22-0 record prior to the NCAA Tournament and 8-0 mark in OVC play during the 2018-19 season. The Governors 22-game winning streak also was the longest in the history of the athletics department at that time. After opening the season with 4-3 victories against Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga, Austin Peay only surrendered more than two points once for the remainder of the season, while also earning more shutout victories against league opponents (7) than they surrendered points (5).
