Biography
2015-16: Versatile athlete posted another strong season despite battling injury… posted a nice top-eight in the 60m hurdles (8.98) and the long jump (5.48m) at the ETSU Invitational during indoor season… returned from hiatus with a personal-best 1:06.34 in the 400m hurdles at the APSU Invitational, where she finished sixth… her 4,052 point total in the OVC Outdoor Championships earned her a seventh-place finish.
2014-15: Multi-sport talent proved to be a valuable asset in multiple avenues… started indoor season off in top form, winning the 60m hurdles (8.76) at the Music City Invite and followed that with a runner-up in the 55m hurdles (8.16) two days later at the MT Christmas Invitational… won the long jump (team indoor-best 5.81m) and finished third in the pentathlon (3,222 points) at the SIU Invitational… added points to APSU’s tally at the OVC Indoor Championships in the 60m hurdles (eighth, 8.77), long jump (seventh, 5.60m) and pentathlon (sixth, 3,633 points)… her first long jump attempt during outdoor season netted netted her a runner-up finish (5.75m) at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold… runner-up in back-to-back weeks in the 100m hurdles at the APSU Invitational (14.42) and the Memphis Invitational (14.35)… put together a school-record 4,484 points in the heptathlon at the OVC Outdoor Championships, finishing fourth—she also boosted Austin Peay’s runner-up score with sixth-place showings in the long jump (5.75m) and 100m hurdles (14.25).
2013-14: Redshirt 2012-13 season proved profitable as she became a dominant force in the multi-events… 3,215-point heptathlon number was a school record and earned her an eighth-place showing at the Niswonger Invitational… won the 60m hurdles at the SIU Open with an 8.90 mark and hit an indoor personal-best in her return to Carbondale with an 8.78, runner-up finish at the SIU Invitational… runner-up in the long jump at the TSU Invitational with a 5.96m leap… brought home points in the long jump (personal-best 5.98m) and 55m hurdles (8.09), earning fifth and sixth place, respectively… won the outdoor long jump at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold with a 5.77m leap… won the 100m hurdles at the Margaret Simmons Invite (14.22)… 5.96m long jump at the Hilltopper Relays was best by a Lady Gov in 2014… earned points toward Austin Peay’s runner-up team score at the OVC Outdoor Championships in three events – 100m hurdles (sixth, 14.33), long jump (eighth, 5.49m) and the heptathlon (fifth, 4307 points).
Prep: Multi-sport athlete excelled under Sam Smith at Martin Luther King Magnet School… Most Valuable Athlete at the 2010 and 2011 Doug Hall Relays… TSSAA Class A-AA state triple jump champion in 2011… part of Martin Luther King team that won three state titles in a row from 2010-12.
Personal: Daughter of Amilcar Butler and Shuntrell King… one sister, Alexis… born February 28… plans to major in applied exercise science.
