Leron Williams

Head coach Doug Molnar has added Leron Williams as one of his assistant coaches for the 2014-15 season.  Williams will focus his energies on the jump events.

Williams was a six-time All-Big 12 honoree and was also a three-time national qualifier in the long jump while competing for Nebraska.  While a member of the Cornhuskers, he was a member of three Big 12 Championship teams.

After graduating from Nebraska, Williams moved into the coaching ranks, first at Nebraska before accepting a volunteer coaching position at Omaha Central High School.  Williams then accepted a position as assistant track coach at STETHS High School in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.  While in Jamaica, Williams coached athletes to a national title in the triple jump, second place in the high jump, and third place in the long jump.  Also while in Jamaica, Williams competed at the professional level and trained with Warren Weir, Edino Steele and Usain Bolt.

After returning to the United States, Williams served a second stint as a volunteer assistant coach at Omaha Central High School, where he coached state champions in the high jump, triple jump and long jump.  His 2010 boy’s state championship team at Omaha Central captured the crown with only seven qualified athletes.

In 2012, Williams accepted a graduate assistant coaching position at Midland University.  While at Midland, Williams coached athletes to five school records over two seasons, while gaining his Master’s in Education and Leadership Development.
