Finished the season with five tackles, half a tackle for loss, and a pass breakup.
2023: Played in all 12 games and made one start at cornerback… Recorded four tackles in his Austin Peay debut at Southern Illinois (Sept. 2)… Totaled two tackles and a pass breakup at Lindenwood (Sept. 30)… Had a tackle at Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 4)… Added a tackle at Central Arkansas (Nov. 18)… Finished the season with 10 tackles and a pass breakup… Was tied for fifth on the team with two total special teams tackles and was tied for second with two tackles on kickoff coverage.
Prior to Austin Peay: Played four seasons at Albany (2019-22) where he redshirted during his true freshman campaign. 2022: Played in all 11 games in his final season as a Great Dane… Picked up three tackles in the season opener at Baylor (Sept. 3)… Had one tackle and two kick returns for 41 yards against Central Connecticut State (Sept. 24)… Recorded a pair of tackles to go along with a career-best four kick returns for 85 yards against Monmouth (Oct. 8)… Had two tackles and matched his career high with a pair of pass breakups against Hampton (Oct. 15)… Posted his first-career double-digit tackle performance with a career-best 13 tackles – including eight solo stops – against Villanova (Oct. 22)… Closed the season with a tackle for loss against Rhode Island (Nov. 19)… Finished the 2022 season with 30 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, and four passes defended… Also returned a career-high nine kicks for 158 yards. 2021: Appeared in nine games for the Great Danes… Had five tackles – with four solo stops – to go along with two pass breakups against Rhode Island (Sept. 11)… Recorded his first collegiate interception, and returned it 25 yards, against Syracuse (Sept. 18) in the Carrier Dome… Totaled a season-high nine tackles and two pass breakups against Delaware (Oct. 2)… Added six more tackles against Villanova (Oct. 16)… Had four tackles and his first collegiate tackle for loss against Maine (Oct. 23)… Finished the season with a career-high 33 tackles to go with 1.0 tackle for loss, an interception, and seven passes defended… Also returned a pair of kicks for 34 yards. 2020: Played in four games during the COVID-altered spring season… Picked up his first collegiate tackle in a three-tackle outing against Maine (March 13)… Also returned a pair of kicks for 46 yards against the Black Bears… Had three tackles and his first collegiate pass breakup against Rhode Island (March 20)… Recorded three tackles and added a pair of kick returns for 56 yards – with a career-long 35-yard return – against Stony Brook (March 27)… Finished the season with 10 tackles and one pass defended while returning five kicks for 113 yards. 2019: Appeared in three games before redshirting… Returned a pair of kicks for 23 yards.
High School: Played running back and defensive back for head coach Jarrett Samuels at Farrell Area High School… Rushed for 2,466 yards and 38 touchdowns during his senior season and helped lead the Steelers to the Pennsylvania 1A State Championship in 2019… Was named the District 10 Player of the Year and a first team all-region selection following his senior campaign… Graduated as the all-time leading rusher at Farrell… Also competed in track and field for the Steelers and was a state qualifier in the 100 and 200 meters during his senior year.
Personal: Christian Elijah Lewis is the son of Leon and Celeste Lewis… Birthday is Nov. 8… Has four siblings: Onjanai Floyd, Marina Caliguire, Brianna Gibbs, and Leon Lewis Jr.… Graduated from Albany in May 2023 with a bachelor’s in homeland security… Pursuing a second bachelor’s in leadership science with a concentration in leading people.
