2023: Started all 12 games on the defensive line… Recorded six tackles in the season opener at Southern Illinois (Sept. 2)… Recorded three tackles, a tackle for loss, and his first career interception – which he returned 18 yards – at Lindenwood (Sept. 30)… Posted career-highs with eight tackles and 1.5 sacks against Gardner-Webb (Oct. 14)… Totaled four tackles, a sack, a pass breakup, and a quarterback hurry at Southern Utah (Oct. 21)… Added five tackles against Central Arkansas (Nov. 18)… Had six tackles, half a tackle for loss, and a quarterback hurry in the FCS Playoffs First Round against Chattanooga (Nov. 25)… Finished the season with 41 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, and two pass breakups – all career highs… Also totaled 4.0 tackles for loss, which ranked sixth on the team… Ranked second among APSU defensive linemen and eighth on the team in total tackles… Also ranked fourth on the team in sacks.

2022: Played in all 11 games and started the final 10 contests on the defensive line… Had four tackles in back-to-back games against Presbyterian (Sept. 3) and Mississippi Valley State (Sept. 10) with 1.0 tackle for loss against the Blue Hose and 1.5 tackles for loss against the Delta Devils… Added three tackles with a pair of tackles for loss against Murray State (Oct. 15)… Posted four tackles, a half tackle for loss, and a pass breakup against Jacksonville State (Oct. 29)… Recorded career-highs with six tackles – all solo stops – and three tackles for loss at Kennesaw State (Nov. 12)… Finished the season with 30 tackles, which ranked 10th on the team and third among APSU defensive linemen… Ranked second on the team and seventh in the ASUN with 8.5 tackles for loss.

2021: Played in all 11 games, starting in eight, including the final six… Recorded a career-high six tackles and one tackle for loss against Tennessee State (Oct. 2)… Had a season-best three solo tackles in a four-tackle outing at Murray State (Oct. 23)… Assisted on a sack against Eastern Illinois (Nov. 6)… Tied for second-most tackles by a defensive lineman with 27.

2020-2021: Played in six games and made one start at defensive end during the 2020-2021 season... Assisted on a tackle against Pittsburgh (Sept. 12) and Cincinnati (Sept. 19)... Made a season-high three tackles in the home opener against Tennessee State (Feb. 28)… Finished the season with seven tackles.

2019: In 14 games, earned 14 stops as a freshman… Shared a pair of tackles at Mercer… Had a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup at ETSU... Shared two tackles against Southeast Missouri… Season-best four total tackles and a quarterback hurry at Tennessee Tech… Tackle for loss at Eastern Kentucky… Solo stop at Murray State… Shared tackles for loss against Eastern Illinois and in the FCS Playoff opener against Furman.

High School: Accumulated 154 total tackles, including 22.0 for loss, during his junior and senior campaigns at Republic High School… As a senior, registered 85 total stops with 14.0 for loss and 3.0 sacks, along with a blocked kick and an interception returned 35 yards… As a junior, totaled 69 tackles, including 8.0 for loss, in addition to a forced fumble and a pass deflection… Also played basketball.

Personal: Jau’Von O’Neal Young is the son of Mary Young… Birthday is May 16… Has six siblings: Cynthia, Rosey, Daunte, Gary, Yazmyn, and Gavin… Graduated from Austin Peay in December 2022 with a bachelor’s in health and human performance... Pursuing a master’s in management.
