As a sophomore in 2024-25: One of four Governors to play in the lineup in all 10 tournaments… recorded a 77.75 scoring average, one round at even or under par, and a counting score in 21-of-28 rounds played… helped the Governors to a team victory at Murray State’s The Velvet, shooting 234 (80-78-76) and finishing tied for 17th… led the Govs for the first time and finished tied for 42nd overall when she shot 228 (80-76-72) at Arkansas State’s Lady Red Wolves Classic… posted a career-low round when she shot even-par 72 in the third round of the Lady Red Wolves Classic… shot 226 (73-79-74) and finished tied for 56th at Hawaii’s Rainbow Wahine Invitational… finished second on the team and tied for 13th overall when she shot 224 (76-75-73) at The Nashville Invitational… recorded the best 54-hole score of her career when she shot 224 at The Nashville Invitational… finished tied for second on the team and 42nd overall at East Carolina’s Ironwood Invitational with a score of 232 (79-78-75)… finished second on the team and tied for 11th overall – the best overall finish of her career – when she shot 227 (74-76-77) at the ASUN Women’s Golf Championship.
As a freshman in 2023-24: Played in three tournaments as an individual and recorded a 78.33 scoring average… shot 247 (79-81-83) and finished tied for 47th in her collegiate debut at UAB’s Hoover Invitational… posted the fourth-best finish by a Governor when she shot 227 (72-77-78) and finished 11th overall at the APSU Intercollegiate at Clarksville Country Club… recorded the fourth-best finish by a Gov again when she shot 235 (79-82-74) and finished tied for 33rd overall at Lipscomb’s Lady Bisons Classic.
Prior to Austin Peay: Prepped at Mansfield High School where she was the captain of the Tigers’ golf team… posted a 74.4 scoring average in her prep career and shot a career-low 69 at in the 2021 University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 11 Tournament… a four-year varsity contributor, she was a UIL All-District 11 and All-Region 2 selection in both 2020-21 and 2021-22… a two-time UIL State Championship qualifier, she helped the Tigers win District 11 titles in 2020-21 and 2021-22… qualified for the Texas Golf Association Women’s Amateur First Flight in 2022 after being a Women's Amateur Championship Flight qualifier in 2021… on the Texas Junior Golf Tour, she posted five top-five finishes in her career and was a 2022 State Match Play qualifier… during the 2021 season, she finished as the 16th-ranked player in points and posted a 76.86 scoring average… followed that with a 73.5 scoring average during the 2022 season.
Personal: Abigail Susan Hirtzel is the daughter of Michael and Ashleigh Hirtzel… has one sibling, Shaleigh… her father, Michael, played football and golf at Southwestern Assemblies of God University… born April 27… a psychological science major.
