As a redshirt junior in 2022-23: Played in a pair of tournaments for the Govs… recorded and 80.33 stroke average… shot a 242 (83-81-78) and finished tied for 26th at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate while playing as an individual… also played as an individual at the Lady Red Wolves Classic where she shot a 240 (82-80-78).
As a redshirt sophomore in 2021-22: Bounced back from injury and played in three tournaments for the Governors… posted a 79.43 stroke average in seven rounds played… made her first appearance at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, shooting a 245 (83-87-75) to finish in 45th place… shot a career-best 73 in the second round of Tennessee State’s Town & Country Invitational, she finished the event tied for seventh with a score of 149… played in her final event of the season at Murray State’s Jan Weaver Invitational, finishing fourth on the team and tied for 29th overall after shooting a 162 (82-80) while playing as an individual. Â
As a redshirt freshman in 2020-21:Â An offseason knee injury robbed her of an entire year of competition.
As a freshman in 2019-20: Developed into a strong presence over the course of her first season… debuted at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, shooting 252 (81-85-86)… with injuries damaging the top of the lineup, stepped up with a 235 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic, including a final-round 75… closed fall with a 156 (79-77) at the Town & Country Invitational… in the lineup in both spring events at the Kiawah Island Classic and Benbow Invitational.
Prior to Austin Peay: Made history as the first female golfer in Lowndes High School history to sign with a Division I university… all-state and all-area as a sophomore and junior… won the program’s first regional championship as a sophomore… In The Game Magazine’s Golfer of the Year in 2018… also swam for Lowndes.
Personal: Payton June Elkins is the daughter of Mike and Caroline Elkins… has a brother, Payne, who is on the men’s golf team at Austin Peay… born July 5…  an exercise science major.
