2021 (Graduate Student): A reliable target for the Governors after transferring from Kansas State… First catch of his Austin Peay career went for a 30-yard score in the season opener against Chattanooga (Sept. 2), finished the game with five receptions for 51 yards… Had a team-high eight receptions at Ole Miss (Sept. 11)… Had season’s best outing against Southeast Missouri (Oct. 9) with 11 receptions for 89 yards – marking the only double-digit catch performance by a Gov during the 2021 season… Finished third on the team with 39 receptions and fourth in receiving yards with 332.
Prior to Austin Peay: A graduate transfer from Kansas State where he appeared 24 games… Saw action in four games on special teams and as a defensive back in 2019, making one tackle on the season… Moved back to wide receiver in his senior season, hauling in seven receptions for 56 yards in ten appearances… led the Wildcats with three catches in their 21-14 win against TCU (Oct. 10, 2020)… made a tackle against Texas (Dec. 5, 2020) on special teams.
High School: Played for head coach Shane Queen at North Cobb High School… Recorded 52 receptions for 520 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior… Helped lead the Warriors to two consecutive 6A state playoff appearances as a junior and senior… Also played basketball and competed in the long jump in track & field during his prep career.
Personal: Darrell Joseph Render is the son of Darrel and Jolene Render… Birthday is March 25… Has three siblings: Jacinta, Desus, and Darvin… Undecided on major… Earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Kansas State in December 2019… Earned a master’s degree in journalism and mass communications from Kansas State in May 2021… Pursuing a master’s degree in secondary education at Austin Peay.
