Career Recap: Austin Peay

As a senior in 2021-22:

Spring Season

  • Named the No. 4 player in the 2022 OVC Women’s Tennis Preseason Top-10 List.
  • Won nine singles and eight doubles matches, finishing with the highest combined winning percentage on the team (17-4, .810 percent).
  • Earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory in her spring debut against McKendree (March 15) and proceeded to win six-straight matches while playing the No. 4 and No. 5 positions.
  • Went 6-1 in conference singles, the second-best mark of her career.
  • Clinched the Governors’ 2022 OVC Regular Season Championship with a 6-0, 6-1 Senior Day victory against Tennessee State’s Franka Sindici, April 22.
  • Became the first player in program history with a winning record across all six singles and three doubles positions following a 6-3, 6-4 victory on the No. 4 singles court in the regular-season finale against Murray State, April 24. 
  • Played exclusively alongside Jana Leder in No. 2 doubles, where the duo won five-straight matches from March 15 to April 15.
  • Defeated Southeast Missouri’s Daniela Hlacikova and Teona Velkoska, an All-OVC Doubles Team, in the OVC Championship, 6-2 
  • Became the sixth player in the last 10 years to receive an All-OVC selection in back-to-back seasons following her second-straight Second Team All-OVC nod.
  • Finished her Austin Peay career with 60 singles and 52 doubles victories.

Fall Season

  • Went 5-1 in singles and 4-2 in doubles through four fall tournaments.
  • In her first action of the fall, Morris picked up a thrilling three-set (3-6, 6-4, 12-10) victory over Southeast Missouri’s reigning OVC Player of the Year, Romana Tarajova, at the UCA 2nd Fall Invitational.
  • Picked up a pair of doubles victories alongside Honoka Nakanishi, while defeating Louisiana Tech’s Leonie Schiknecht 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 to remain perfect in singles at Central Arkansas’ event.
  • After dropping a pair of close sets to an All-SEC Freshman selection from the spring in Vanderbilt’s Anessa Lee at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regionals, Morris finished her fall campaign winning her final three singles matches, including both of her remaining singles matches at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals.
  • Picked up her second win of the fall against an OVC opponent when she and freshman Denise Torrealba defeated UT Martin’s Sina Albersmeier and Mizuki Sakurai, 8-6 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals.
  • Went a perfect 2-0 at the UNA Fall Invitational, picking up a singles and doubles victory at the event. 

As a junior in 2020-21:

Spring Season

  • Named the No. 5 player on the 2021 OVC Women’s Tennis Preseason Top-10 List.
  • Played exclusively the No. 1 doubles position, picking up 12 victories alongside Fabienne Schmidt, including 10-straight to start the season.
  • After falling in a pair of matches to start OVC play, finished the season with six-straight victories from the No. 2 singles position.
  • Clinched the Govs second-straight OVC Championship with a marathon victory against Southeast Missouri’s Daniela Hlacikova in the title match.
  • Named OVC Player of the Week for the first time in her career on April 14.
  • Received Second Team All-OVC honors after posting a 9-5 singles and a 12-3 doubles record.

As a sophomore in 2019-20:

Spring Season

  • Was named the No. 6 player on the 2020 OVC Women’s Tennis Preseason Top-10 List.
  • Posted a 9-3 singles record, winning eight times from the No. 2 position and once from the No. 1 spot.
  • Led the Govs with 17 singles wins across the fall and spring seasons.
  • Won six-straight singles matches from Jan. 25 to Feb. 14, capping off the streak with her lone win from the No. 1 position.
  • Played exclusively with Jana Leder in doubles action, posting a 6-4 mark from the No. 1 line.

Fall Season

  • Led the Govs with a singles record of 8-2 during the fall tournament season.
  • Paired exclusively with Fabienne Schmidt in the fall doubles action to post a team-best 8-2 mark.
  • Went 3-0 in doubles play at the APSU Fall Invitational to take home the Flight One Doubles title.
  • Ran the table at the UCA Fall Classic, winning three times to claim the Flight One Singles championship.
  • Won her first round matchup at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, before falling in the Round of 64 and then picking up a consolation win.
  • Went 3-1 in doubles action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, knocking off the No. 5 seeded duo from Tennessee before falling in the quarterfinals.

As a freshman in 2018-19:

Spring Season

  • Highly successful spring season, going 17-3 in singles and 12-3 in doubles.
  • Went on an 11-match win streak in singles, the longest streak by a freshman in APSU history.
  • Picked up a doubles win with Fabienne Schmidt and a straight-set singles win in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Semifinal Match against Southeast Missouri.

Fall Season

  • Had a 4-2 mark in doubles and a 4-3 record in singles.
  • Won the SMU Invitational No. 3 Doubles Draw with Helena Kuppig.
  • Defeated Xavier’s Kaitlin Ruether (5-7, 7-5, 6-4) in the first round of the Flight B Singles at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals.

Prior to Austin Peay
A four-year captain of the St. Aidan’s Anglican Girls School women’s tennis team… She also played basketball, badminton, and ran cross country… Made the semifinals of the Under-16 Australian Championship in doubles in 2016… Was a part of the Merit Tennis Team in 2017… Was the captain of the state of Queensland tennis team in 2015 and 2017… Made the semifinals at the 2017 ITF Auckland Open… Was ranked as high as No. 2 in the Queensland Junior Rankings, NO. 86 in the Australian Open Women’s Rankings, and No. 934 in the ITF World Junior Rankings.
