Academics: AD Honor Roll (S16, S17)
As a junior: In 11 appearances, recorded 39 tackles and was a constant presence around the ball… made five tackles and recorded a tackle for loss at Eastern Illinois, Sept. 24… recorded six tackles in the Oct. 1 contest against Murray State… also had six tackles against Eastern Kentucky, Nov. 12… a career-best nine tackles at Kentucky, Nov. 19, included one behind the line of scrimmage in the season finale.
As a sophomore: Moved to linebacker as a sophomore and used athleticism to record 27 tackles… recorded three tackles and shared a tackle for loss at Southern Miss… made four tackles in back-to-back appearances against Eastern Illinois and Murray State, adding two pass break-ups against the Racers… recorded four stops against Jacksonville State… made a career-high eight tackles (all solo) and added a tackle for loss in the home finale against Southeast Missouri.
As a freshman: Made 11 appearances in the defensive backfield as a freshman, but moved to linebacker during the spring… assisted on three tackles at Illinois State… also had tackles against Memphis, Mercer and Jacksonville State.
High School: As senior collected 98 tackles, including 12 for loss, at Rich Central High School… forced five fumbles and recovered one… also intercepted pass… on offense rushed for one touchdown… earned all-conference and all-area as well as being selected team captain… member of National Honor Society.
Personal: Business management major with communication arts minor… son of Shawn and Cherryl Mitchell… born Dec. 27.
