Abbie Richeson joined the Governors as a mental performance coach in Jan. 2025.

Richeson joins the Governors after serving as a student mental performance consultant at the University of Memphis while pursuing her master’s degree from Tennessee. At Memphis, she developed workshops focused on identifying and improving key areas of mental performance. She also worked with One Knox FC, where she implemented four-week interventions designed to foster community-based and character-development goals for athletes.

Richeson also worked at Delta State, where she founded "Game Changers," a student-athlete support group that provided weekly sessions focused on wellness and optimal performance through education on key areas of athletes' lives.

In 2024, Richeson presented at the Association for Applied Sport Psychology’s national conference, highlighting her applied mental performance work with youth soccer players.

Richeson played soccer at Delta State, 2019-22, and served as her program’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative during her collegiate career.

Richeson earned a bachelor’s of psychology from Delta State in Dec. 2022 and a master’s of science in kinesiology with a concentration in sport psychology and motor behavior from Tennessee in Dec. 2024. Richeson also obtained her Certified Mental Performance Consultant certification in June 2025, further enhancing her expertise in applied sport psychology.
