Alex Allard is in his sixth year in the athletics communications office at Austin Peay, joining the department as a summer intern in 2021. Allard was promoted to Director of Athletics Communications in June 2026 after previously serving as the department’s Assistant Director of Athletics Communications (2023-25) and an athletics communications assistant (2021-23).
In addition to overseeing Austin Peay Athletics’ branding, Allard serves as the department’s primary contact for men’s basketball, softball, track and field, men’s and women’s cross country, and is the secondary for football.
Throughout his career, Allard has served as the primary contact of 11 APSU sports for at least one season, and has served as the men’s basketball, softball, and secondary football contact for the past three seasons.
Over the last three seasons as the contact for Governors’ basketball, Allard has helped grow the team’s social media accounts by over 115%, with the team combining for over 35 million social media impressions during that time. Throughout his career, he has worked alongside numerous national and local media outlets including Fox Sports, ESPN, CBS Saturday Morning with Dana Jacobson, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, News Channel 5, and multiple others.
The Governors’ softball pages have grown by a combined 105% over the last three seasons, while helping to exponentially increase the program’s social media metrics each season as well, while doubling its overall social media impressions in both the 2024 and 2025 season.
Prior to joining APSU Athletics, Allard was the assistant sports editor and distribution manager for the Austin Peay student newspaper, The All State, and served as a freelance sports writer and photographer for Main Street Clarksville.
Allard is a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports communication from Austin Peay in May 2022.
