Clarksville, Tenn. – Freshman Claudia Yanes Garcia, of the Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Yanes Garcia went 2-0 in singles last week, helping the Govs to Ohio Valley Conference wins against Southeast Missouri and Murray State. She opened her week with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Southeast Missouri’s Mila Majtan.

After an unfinished match against UT Martin’s Hitomi Naito—which Yanes Garcia was leading 7-5, 4-3—she dominated Murray State’s Amina Hadzic 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and helped APSU secure the doubles point, joining Brittney Covington in a 6-3 victory against Hadzic and Megan Blue.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

• Junior second baseman Garrett Copeland, of the baseball team, hit .476 (10-for-21), scoring five runs and driving in seven, including a 5-for-5 day against Southern Illinois.
