CLARKSVILLE—Junior guard Josh Robinson, of the men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Robinson filled the stat line last week, averaging 22.3 points on 46.9 percent shooting, adding 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists to lead the Govs to a 2-1 record and earn MVP honors at the Tarkett Sports Classic, hosted by Miami. It was part of a heavily-decorated week for the St. Louis native, who earned adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week and College Court Report’s Player of the Week Fan Vote.

He opened the tournament with a 31-point outburst against Northern Kentucky, hitting 11-of-16 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line in his season's first 30-point performance; he and senior John Murry led the Governors back from a 16-point deficit with 12 minutes to go, with Robinson scoring 16 points during the final 12 minutes.

The finale at Oxford will be a memorable day in Robinson's Austin Peay career. With 18:23 remaining in the second half, he scored his 1,000th career point, becoming the 32nd Governor, 13th guard and 11th APSU player since 2006 to reach that milestone.

That bucket was part of a 23-point, five-rebound, five-assist effort against the Blue Hens, but Robinson saved the best for last against Delaware. He capped his weekend with the go-ahead bucket with 1.9 seconds to go, taking the in-bounds pass following a Delaware free-throw and going coast-to-coast for a lay-up.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Freshman running back Kentel Williams, of the football team, capped a stellar freshman campaign with a 124-yard rushing performance against Kentucky, including a 17-yard touchdown scamper to open the scoring.
  • Senior center Tearra Banks, of the women’s basketball team, averaged 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in victories against Trevecca and Arkansas State, hitting 62.5 percent (10-for-16) from the floor.
  • Sophomore setter Kristen Stucker, of the volleyball team, earned All-Tournament honors at the 2016 OVC Volleyball Tournament, posting 104 total serves (13.0 aps) to help the Govs advance to the OVC semifinals for the first time in the Taylor Mott era.
