Clarksville, Tenn. – Freshman quarterback Jeremiah Oatsvall, of the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Brentwood native led the Govs back from a 17-point deficit against Eastern Kentucky, Saturday, saving the Governors potential playoff hopes with 203 passing yards on 11-of-15 passing and another 64 on the ground.

With the Govs down 24-7 in the third quarter, Oatsvall laid the groundwork for the comeback with a 59-yard touchdown pass to senior Kyran Moore, then followed that up with another 17-yard toss to DJ Montgomery. But it was his eight-yard scamper with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter which put the Governors ahead for the first time.

Oatsvall’s late-game heroics garnered him both adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, his third Newcomer honor in four weeks and first career Player of the Week accolade.  

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Junior setter Kristen Stucker, of the volleyball team, claimed her season’s tenth adidas® OVC Setter of the Week honor after leading the Govs to a .258 attack percentage and an outright OVC regular season title thanks to Saturday’s win against Morehead State. She also had a double-double (48 assists, 19 digs) in the Battle of the Border contest against Murray State.
  • Freshman forward Terry Taylor, of the men’s basketball team, did something pretty unique in his first regular season appearance for the Red-and-White. The Bowling Green native led all scorers with 15 points against Vanderbilt; Austin Peay’s electronic record-keeping, which dates back to 2001-02, indicates that no other APSU true freshman in that time span has led all scorers in his collegiate debut.
  • Freshman guard Brianah Ferby, of the women’s basketball team, scored a team-high 16 points in the Governors win against Christian Brothers in Austin Peay’s 2017-18 home opener.
