Clarksville, Tenn. – Senior center Tearra Banks, of the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Banks accomplished a rare feat in Saturday’s contest against Tennessee State, hitting all 11 shots from the floor to equal Gerlonda Hardin’s single-game best 11-for-11 mark, scoring 28 points as the Govs dispatched the Tigers 79-63. Combining that performance with her 30-point effort in Wednesday’s road contest against Eastern Kentucky, Banks moved into APSU’s career top-10 in scoring with 1,319 points. She’s now the first Gov since Whitney Hanley (2011-12) to record five consecutive 20-point scoring outings.

The Louisville native picked up her season’s third adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor and now ranks eighth nationally in field goals made (188).

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Senior John Murry, of the men’s basketball team, led the Governors in scoring in both contests last week, including a pivotal OVC road win at Eastern Kentucky. Murry scored a career-high 27 points on 9-for-15 shooting against the Colonels, then led the Govs with 20 points against Tennessee State. In both games, Murry rolled off a stretch that saw him score 10 points in less than five minutes—over a 4:44 span in the first at Eastern Kentucky (17:42-12:58) and over the final 2:39 of regulation against the Tigers to keep the Governors in the contest.
  • Sophomore Savannah Amato, of the track and field team, extended her lead in the OVC pole vault rankings with a season-best 3.88m (12-8.75) mark at the Don DeNoon Invitational in Carbondale, Illinois, finishing third overall.
