Clarksville, Tenn. – Senior Averyl Ugba, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Ugba's sixth adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer honor of the season, and fifth in the last six weeks, comes on the heels of a week that saw him average a double-double (15.5 ppg, 12.0 rpg) in wins against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State as the Govs remained unbeaten (6-0) at home in league play. He was one of six Govs in double figures against Eastern Kentucky, narrowly missing a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds while adding four blocked shots—most by a Gov in 2017-18.

The Silver Spring, Maryland native was a one-man wrecking crew in Saturday's win against Morehead State, putting up 11 points and 13 rebounds in the first half—he finished with 18 points and 15 boards, the most rebounds by a Governor in a single game since Chris Horton (15, March 4, 2016 against Belmont in the OVC Tournament semifinals). The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Freshman Terry Taylor, of the men’s basketball team, picked up his league-high fifth OVC Freshman of the Week award, leading the Govs in scoring in both contests and averaging 21.0 ppg for the week. He posted his season’s ninth double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds against Eastern Kentucky, then put up 23 and combined with Dayton Gumm to outscore Morehead State 18-13 over the final eight minutes to preserve the win.
  • Freshman Lennex Walker, of the track and field team, hit a personal-best 8.70 in the 60m hurdles finals at the Thundering Herd Invitational, placing third, and also scored 3,363 points in the pentathlon for a seventh-place finish.
