Clarksville, Tenn. – Sophomore Austin Lancaster, of the Austin Peay State University men’s golf team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Hendersonville native carded three-round, five-under par 211 (70-74-67) to tie for second at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate as the Governors picked up their first win under head coach Robbie Wilson. He posted a career-best 67 in the final round, including four straight birdies on Holes 4-7—including one of just six birdies in the final round on Hole No. 4—as Austin Peay erased a 10-shot deficit to topple Toledo and take the tournament's top spot.

For his efforts, Lancaster earned his first career adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, becoming the second Governor in three weeks to capture a share of that title.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Senior forward Averyl Ugba, of the men’s basketball team, helped the Govs advance to the semifinals of the 2018 OVC Men’s Basketball Tournament in Evansville, Indiana; with 20 points against Eastern Illinois and 23 against Belmont, he’s the first Gov with 20-point outings in his first two OVC Tournament appearances since Trenton Hassell (21 vs. Morehead State in 1999, 25 against Eastern Illinois in 2000).
  • Junior third baseman Danielle Liermann, of the softball team, earned her first career OVC Player of the Week honor after hitting .364 at the WKU Hilltopper Spring Fling Tournament last week, socking three home runs and driving in 12 as the Govs posted a 5-2 mark on the week and advanced to the tournament championship game; she supplied the game-winning hit against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Western Kentucky.
  • Senior left-handed pitcher Michael Costanzo, of the baseball team, scattered two hits over seven innings while striking out eight to earn OVC Pitcher of the Week honors after picking up his season’s second win in the opener against Indiana State.
