Clarksville, Tenn. – Junior sprinter Maikea Davis, of the Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been named this week’s Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Davis had a hand in 23 of Austin Peay’s 140 points at last weekend’s SIU Invitational, leading the Lady Govs to a second-place finish in Carbondale. She won the 200m dash with a 24.80 mark, converted to 24.42 due to track size and ranking her second in the event in the Ohio Valley Conference with less than three weeks until the OVC Indoor Championships.
The Albany, Ga. native placed sixth in the 60m dash (7.87 seconds) and ran a leg of Austin Peay’s 4x400m relay team that won the event by nearly six seconds with a 3:53.88 mark.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
  • Junior forward Ed Dyson, of the men’s basketball team, scored a career-high 20 points at Tennessee State and followed that up with a 16-point outing at Belmont, giving him three straight double-digit point outings for the first time in his Austin Peay career.
  • Freshman Hannah Tatlock, of the women’s tennis team, won both her matches at No. 6 singles last week, dispatching Middle Tennessee’s Sarah Sediri (3-6, 6-3, 10-2), Friday, and Southern Illinois’ Gisela Cairo Baza (7-6, 6-4), Saturday.
  • Senior pitcher/first baseman Lauren de Castro, of the softball team, was named to the all-tournament team at the Mardi Gras Invitational after hitting .429 (3-for-7) and securing Austin Peay’s first victory with a four-inning, two-earned run performance in the season-opener against McNeese State.
  • Sophomore forward Jennifer Nwokocha, of the women’s basketball team, scored 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting, pulled down eight rebounds and a career-high four steals in just 21 foul-plagued minutes at Tennessee State, Saturday.
