Lady Govs volleyball swept at Tennessee State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University's volleyball team dropped its fifth-straight match, a 3-0 (30-27, 32-30, 30-27) Ohio Valley Conference decision at Tennessee State, Thursday night.

Austin Peay falls to 7-14 overall and 2-7 in conference action. Tennessee State, which entered the night tied for second in the league standings, improved to 10-9 overall and 8-2 in league play.

Senior Dodi Szymska posted a match-high 23 kills to lead an Austin Peay offense which mustered only 43 kills and a .095 attack percentage. Freshman Maegan Squibb added five kills and a team-high five solo blocks.

Kelly Davis led a balanced Lady Tigers attack which saw five of the six starters record at least eight kills. TSU finished the night with 52 kills and a .159 attack percentage. Tennessee State won both halves of the defensive battle, posting an 84-77 advantage in digs and a 11-8 advantage in blocks.

Austin Peay returns home to start a four-match homestand, beginning with a 2 p.m., Saturday contest against Tennessee Tech.
