CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University's volleyball team saw its losing streak reach six matches with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-24, 30-28) loss to Tennessee Tech in Ohio Valley Conference action, Saturday.
The Lady Govs fall to 7-16 overall and 2-9 in conference play. Tennessee Tech improves to 12-10 overall and 6-5 in league action.
Austin Peay's offense got off to a slow start, recording more attack errors (10) than kills (8) in the opening game. Meanwhile, Tennessee Tech found little difficulty finding the floor with 19 kills on its way to the 30-14 victory.
The Lady Govs rebounded in the match's second game, with 12 kills, but could not keep pace with the Golden Eagles offense which put up another 19 kills in the game.
Austin Peay challenged Tennessee Tech point-for-point during the third game, with 10 ties and three lead changes in the game. However, back-to-back APSU miscues put TTU at match point and Leah Meffert finished the match with a kill.
Senior Dodi Szymska had 10 kills to lead an Austin Peay offense which mustered just 35 kills.
TTU's Amanda Lindgren led all hitters with 18 kills as the Golden Eagles posted 56 kills in the match.
Austin Peay continues its four-match home stand with a 7 p.m., Tuesday contest against Samford.
