Notes vs.  Samford

  • The Govs are now 3-0 in homecoming games, spoiling both Tennessee Tech and Samford.
  • The Govs five wins are the most since the 2002 team that went 7-5 and the most by a Govs scholarship program since 1991 team that 5-6.
  • The Govs three OVC wins are the most since the 1994 team that went 3-5.
  • Austin Peay had 48 yards of total offense, all on the ground, and four first downs in the first half. Samford had 212 yards of total offense, 141 passing and 71 rushing, for 13 first downs in the half.
  • Senior running back Chris Fletcher had eight carries for 25 yards at the half.
  • Sophomore linebacker Chris Haynes led the Govs for the second-straight week with nine tackles, including seven solo stops. Fellow sophomores Tremayne Townsend and Kit Hartsfield each added eigh tackles.

  • Freshman punter Ryan Key averaged a season-best 47.6 yards a punt on five punts. He had a season-long 60 yard punt and landed three punts inside the 20 yard line.
  • Freshman Ricky Thomas blocked a Samford punt in the third quarter, his season's first and the Govs fourth.
