Austin Peay State University remains winless in Ohio Valley Conference play, losing a 2-1, Friday match to Morehead State. The Lady Govs fall to 6-12 overall with an 0-8 league mark, while the Eagles improve to 5-9 with a 4-4 OVC clip.
Morehead State outshot Austin Peay 8-4 in the first half, landing five shots on goal. The Eagles scored the game's first goal in the 27th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Rebekah Kendall delivered a cross in front of Austin Peay's goal and Erin Adams punched into the back of the net. MSU would go ahead 2-0 in the 74th minute on a goal by Kendall off a corner kick by Lauren Seebach.
Junior Ashley Beck scored Austin Peay's lone goal in the 83rd minute. Senior Tyler Adair lofted a ball down the right side and Beck outran a pair of Morehead State defenders for the score. Beck finished with six shots, four on goal. Sophomore keeper Michelle Smith tallied six saves in a losing effort.
Morehead State finished with an 18-15 shots advantage with goalkeeper Leslie King recording eight saves. Adams finished with a game-high seven shots, while Kendall added six.
Austin Peay soccer wraps up OVC play when it plays host to Eastern Kentucky in a 1 p.m., Sunday, match at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field. The Lady Govs will honor its six seniors during the pre-game ceremonies.
