CHARLESTON, Ill. ? Austin Peay State University's volleyball team dropped its season finale, 3-1 (30-18, 24-30, 30-20, 32-30), at Eastern Illinois, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action. The Lady Govs finish the season 8-25 with a 4-16 OVC mark, while the Panthers finish 12-17 with a 5-15 OVC clip.
“It was another tough conference match,” head coach Jenny Hazelwood said. “We've done this all year, but this season is over. We've got a strong core returning and now we have to look forward to next year.”
Austin Peay struggled early on losing game one, 30-18, but bouncing back to win game two, 30-24, with a .211 attack percentage. EIU would take game three with ease, 30-20. Game four featured 13 ties and six lead changes before the Panthers topped the Lady Govs, 32-30.
The Lady Govs were led by Kirstin Distler and Taylor Skinner with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Kristen Kirch recorded a match-high 39 digs. Eliza Zwettler had a match-high 28 kills while Alex Zwettler added 20 kills.
