CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Senior Shawn Kelley of the Austin Peay State University baseball team was a second-team
selection on the American Baseball Coaches All-South Region squad, released Thursday. He was the only Ohio Valley
Conference player selected to the All-South Region squads and is the first Austin Peay player to be named to either team
since Rowdy Hardy earned second-team honors in 2004.
Kelley, the OVC's “Pitcher of the Year,” led the Governors to OVC regular-season title, personally posting a 7-1 record
in league play. He enters the NCAA Baseball Championship with an 11-3 record and 2.52 ERA. He leads the OVC in wins
and ranks third in earned-run average while his 73 strikeouts rank fourth. In conference action, he had a 2.78 ERA with 47
strikeouts in 74.1 innings pitched. In the O'Reilly OVC Baseball Championship, Kelley threw his eighth-complete game in
the Govs 5-1 victory against Samford in the team's opening game and picked up all-tournament honors for the third
consecutive season.
