Redhawks use late drive to spoil Govs Senior Day

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Timmy Holloman's 1-yard touchdown run capped Southeast Missouri's game-winning drive as the Redhawks won 33-30 against Austin Peay, Saturday at Governors Stadium.

Austin Peay led 30-26 when it punted with 4:11 left in the fourth quarter. Southeast Missouri used it all to set up the game's final score. In fact, Redhawk quarterback Matt Scheible was stuffed three times on the goal line before handing off to Holloman on fourth down.

Earlier in the fourth, Southeast Missouri scored on a 27-yard TD strike from Scheible to Chante Ahamefule to make it 30-26, but missed the extra point forcing the late touchdown scramble.

Scheible completed 12 of 14 passes for 195 yards and 3 touchdowns. Walter Peoples had three catches, two for scores, for 81 yards including a 44-yard touchdown to open the game.

The Governors evened the score on a Trent Caffee 1-yard scramble and took a lead after blocked punt returned for a touchdown followed by a 41-yard field goal by Issac Ziolkowski.

Austin Peay blocked a school-record three kicks on the day. The first was blocked by Jay Courtney and Kevis Buckley picked up for a 7-yard TD run in the first quarter. Ricky Thomas, meanwhile, blocked two kicks.

Austin Peay held that lead, matching the Redhawks score-for-score, until the game's final seconds.

Caffee threw for 118 yards and a touchdown, as well as rushing for a score. Ryan White carried the ball 19 times for 80 yards, while Jeff Lyle caught the Govs only touchdown pass. Ziolkowski, returning from an injury, kicked a season-high three field goals.

Daniel Becker led the Govs defense with 15 tackles, including 1.5 for loss.

It was the season's final game for both teams.
