Governors attempt to keep perfect their OVC home mark

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay will close out its Ohio Valley Conference home season when it plays host to Tennessee Tech, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, in Dave Aaron Arena.

The Governors, 17-9 overall and 13-3 in the OVC, will attempt to keep their perfect OVC home record intact as they sport a 9-0 league mark. In fact, APSU's only home loss to this point has been a 64-55 loss to Akron, Dec. 15.

A victory also will assure the Governors no worse than a first-place tie for the OVC regular-season championship.

The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, come in at 12-16 overall and 9-9 in the OVC. However, Tennessee Tech comes to Clarksville after incurring a disappointing 82-79 home loss, Thursday night, to UT Martin.

The Golden Eagles again are led in scoring by senior guard Anthony Fisher (17 ppg) while forward Amadi McKenzie is at 14.8 ppg, shooting better than 60 perecent from the floor, and 8.4 rpg. Center/forward Daniel Northern is averaging 12.2 ppg and an OVC-leading 9.0 rebounds per game. Northern and McKenzie rank first and second in OVC rebounding.

The Govs, meanwhile, have been off since handing Samford a 63-49 defeat in Clarksville, last Saturday. It was the program's 300th win in the Dunn Center.

At halftime, Saturday morning's Hall of Fame inductees, former track star Ayesha Maycock and APSU basketball coach Dave Loos, will be recognized.
