Lady Govs tennis drops fourth straight

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University women's tennis team dropped its fourth straight match, falling 4-3, to Cumberland, Monday, at the Governors Tennis Center. The Lady Govs fall to 0-4 in dual matches.

In close played doubles competition, APSU tandem of Michelle Liew and Laura Gonzalez won a quick match, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles, while Alex Pyle and Mary Beth Lefler lost, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles. The point came down to a heated No. 1 doubles match, which the Lady Govs lost in a tiebreaker.

It was top and bottom dominance in the singles competition, ending in a perfect split. The Lady Govs won the top three matches and Cumberland won the bottom four. Cumberland's Emily Jacobs sealed the win after taking the third set from Gonzalez at No. 4 singles.

The Lady Govs return to the courts for a 2 p.m., Thursday match with Bethel to be played at the Governors Tennis Center.
