Lady Govs blanked by Eastern Kentucky

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University women's tennis team was blanked, 7-0, by Eastern Kentucky, Friday, in Ohio Valley Conference action. The Lady Govs fall to 1-13 overall with a 1-5 league mark.

A day after picking up their season's first win, the Lady Govs found themselves on the wrong end of the shutout.

The Colonels blew through the Lady Govs in the doubles competition. Mogan Klieber and Laura Gonzalez played the closest match at No. 2 doubles. After falling behind 7-1, the pair closed the gap to three games, 7-4. However, tight net play by Meredith Giles and Jemma Euers secured the win.

The Lady Govs did their best to avoid the sweep at No. 1 singles. Mariana Pagan dropped the first set, 6-4, but regrouped and fought back to win the second. The tiebreaker, however, did not go in her favor as Svetlana Pimenova picked up the win. The rest of the Lady Govs went down in order.
