CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.
? Michelle Liew won her team-best seventh match, but it was not enough as Austin Peay
State University women's tennis team lost to Murray State, 6-1, Tuesday. It was
the second match in consecutive days for the Lady Govs.
Austin
Peay falls to 1-15 overall with a 1-7 Ohio Valley Conference mark. Murray State
improves to 12-6 and 6-3 in the league.
The
Racers won the doubles point after taking a pair of close matches at No. 1 and
No. 3 doubles. Liew and Mariana Pagan lost the top spot in a tiebreaker, while
Alexandria Pyle and Mary Beth Lefler fell, 8-6, in the bottom.
Liew's
doubles tiebreaker was enough to prepare her for a tough match at No. 2
singles. She won a 4-0 tiebreaker to take the first set and closed the match
with a 6-2 win. The rest of the Lady Govs were less fortunate, as Pagan's
straight set (6-4, 6-4) loss at No. 1 was the next closest singles match.
The
Lady Govs close out their season on the road, with a 1 p.m., Saturday match at Eastern Illinois.
