CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University women's tennis team dropped its season-opener, 5-2, against Lipscomb, Saturday.

The Lady Govs came up short on the doubles side as Mariana Pagan and Yuki Nakamura picked up their only win at No. 1, 8-5, over Kara Jackson and Danielle Hanson. Demi Georgakopoulos and Michelle Liew put up a fight at No.2, but ended up falling, 8-5, to Olivia Ellis and Elizabeth Keevil.

On the singles side, Pagan and Liew picked up wins at No.1 and No.2, respectively. Nakamura won the first set, 6-3, at No. 3, but Keevil pitched a shutout for the next sets for the win. Brittany Hays was the next closest Lady Govs match at No. 5, but lost (6-4, 6-4) to Claire Landry.
