BOWLING GREEN, Ky. ? Austin Peay struggled to find any offense on Wednesday, as it was limited to just two hits on the day was swept by Western Kentucky 8-0 and 4-2.
Austin Peay (6-19) was no-hit for the fourth time this season in Game 1, as Western Kentucky starter Ryan Rogge limited the Lady Govs to two base runners ? a two-out walk to senior Krista Henke in the third inning and Samantha Butts being hit by a pitch in the fourth inning.
Western Kentucky struck first in the bottom of the first inning, with Rebecca Horesky doubling in Lindsey Antone, after Austin Peay starter Meagan Williams had gotten the first two Western hitters out.
The Hilltoppers would chase Williams in the second, with Sam Cronk opening the inning with a single, and after a sacrifice bunt and a walk to Sara Williams, both scored on Ashley Contreras' home run out to left center making it 4-0.
Western Kentucky would tack on one more run in the second with Kelsey McCauley -- who reached on a base on balls ? scored from third on a passed ball by Austin Peay catcher Daniella Hooper.
Western Kentucky would add to its lead in the third, as Lindsay Antone led off the inning with a long home run to left-center field off Lady Govs relief pitcher Ashley Elrod, making it 6-0.
Western Kentucky would close out the game in the bottom of the fifth scoring twice, with Jamie Hennis and Brooke Reed opening the inning with back-to-back singles. Hennis would score on a double by Horesky and Reed on a sacrifice fly by Cronk for the 8-0 final.
In Game 2, Western Kentucky would score runs in both the first and second innings to get out to a 2-0 lead, but would break the game open in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Antone ? her second of the day.
Austin Peay would get its first hit of the day in the second inning on a single to right field by freshman Catie Cozart, while sophomore Randal Davenport would record the other ? a single in the third inning.
Cozart and sophomore Tiffany Smith would also reach base on walks for the Lady Govs.
Austin Peay is off until Saturday, when it opens a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at Tennessee Tech.
