CLARKSVILLE - A pair of sisters will grace the 2011-12 Austin
Peay State University women's basketball roster as Shelby Olszewski, sister of
current Lady Govs guard Nicole, has signed a national letter of intent, head
coach Carrie Daniels announced Monday.
Shelby Olszewski, a 5-6 guard, is entering her senior
season at Pickerington North High School where she has averaged 8.3 points, 2.8
rebounds and 2.4 assists per game during her career. She was a second-team
all-conference selection and an honorable mention all-district selection as a
junior. The Panthers have accumulated a 66-10 record during her career.
"We are pleased Shelby has decided to join her sister with
our program next season," said Daniels. "Shelby is a fierce competitor and
tenacious defender who also will bring much-needed leadership to our team next
year. She does all the little things you want in a player. Shelby is an all-round
athlete who has been around success her entire high school career. She can
shoot the ball well, but it was all the other things that drew me to her. Shelby
will be a tremendous asset when she joins us next season."
Olszewski also played soccer at Pickerington North and she
was named all-state twice, all-district three times and all-conference four
times. She led the Panthers to a state runner-up finish this season and twice
led the squad to regional championships.
