FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Senior
Erik Barnes shot a course-record 67 to lead Austin Peay to a two-stroke dual-match win over Belmont, Saturday, at West Haven Golf Course.
Despite being limited to indoor hitting throughout all of the spring semester, the golf Govs pulled out a 301-303 win on Belmont's home course.
Barnes carried the Govs with three birdies and an eagle on the back nine. The rest of the Govs struggled in the wintery conditions. Juniors
Brian Balthrop and
Luke Sherrod shot 77 and 78, respectively, while sophomore Andrew Miller rounded out the scoring Govs with a 79. Senior
Eric Anfinson fired an 84.
For Belmont, Scott O'Brien shot a 72 followed by Simon Marshall (75), Gaylon Cude (77) and Elliot Wickenden (79).
Austin Peay returns to action at the Mardi Gras Invite, hosted by Louisiana Monroe, Feb. 21.
