EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Austin Peay men's tennis team won its third-straight match, a non-conference tilt, 6-1, at SIU Edwardsville, Saturday.
The Govs swept the doubles point in three close matches. In fact, at Nos. 2 and 3 the Govs worked to 9-7 wins -
Amar Subasic and
Renan Bezerra won at No. 2, while
Leonardo Locatelli and
John Storie won at No. 3.
Henrique Norbiato and
Sean Bailey picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1 to complete the sweep.
In singles, the Govs won five of six matches, but saw two of those wins go into three sets. Locatelli dropped the first set at No. 2 singles, but fought back to win the next two and the match. Subasic won a tough match at No. 4 singles, taking the first set, 7-6, in a tiebreaker. Subasic dropped the second set, but won a super-tiebreaker, 10-5, to take the match.
Bailey won a straight set match at No. 1 singles, as did Norbiato at No. 3 singles. Norbiato improved to 8-1 at No. 3, while it was the third striaght win at No. 1.
Austin Peay wraps up its regular season with an 11 a.m., Sunday, Ohio Valley Conference match at Eastern Illinois.
