CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.. – Austin Peay men's tennis team remains winless in Ohio Valley Conference action following a 6-1 loss to Eastern Kentucky, Friday, at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.
Austin Peay (3-4; 0-3 OVC) picked up a win at No. 1 doubles as freshman tandem of Sean Bailey and Henrique Norbiato came from behind to win 8-4. That was it for the Govs on doubles, as they dropped Nos. 2 and 3, both at 8-4.
On the singles side, the Govs lost a pair of close matches in second-set tiebreakers. Senior Leonardo Locatelli lost his second consecutive match at No. 2 singles – his fourth straight loss at No. 2, broken up by a win playing No. 3 at Tennessee Tech.
Norbiato, meanwhile, suffered his first loss at No. 3. The freshman was 4-0 at No. 3 entering the match, including wins at Jacksonville State, against Chattanooga and against Lipscomb.
The Govs lone win came at No. 4 singles by freshman Amar Subasic. Despite opening the season with an 0-4 record playing No. 5, Subasic has excelled at No. 4 singes, having now won back-to-back matches.
Eastern Kentucky (13-8; 6-0 OVC) is the only undefeated men's team left in league action. The win was just the Colonels second road win this season.
Austin Peay returns to action hosting Morehead State in a 2:30 p.m., Saturday, match at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.
