Peay State University's volleyball team completed its stay at the Buccaneer
Classic with a three-set sweep (25-21, 25-19, 25-9) victory against UNC
Greensboro, Saturday afternoon, at Brooks Gymnasium.
Austin Peay (9-1) claimed the Buccaneer
Classic title with a 3-0 record, losing only one set in its three matches. The
Lady Govs also ran their win streak to eight matches as they prepare to open
both their home and Ohio Valley Conference schedule, Friday.
The Lady Govs offense was at
its most efficient against the Spartans, committing just nine errors in the match.
Austin Peay recorded 42 kills and finished the contest with a .303 attack
percentage. Sophomore Ilyanna Hernandez led the Lady Govs with 11 kills, the
third different kills leader in the tournament for APSU.
UNC Greensboro (8-3) could not
find a rhythm offensively, recording 28 kills but committing 19 errors to
finish the match with a .089 attack percentage. Olivia Humphries and Billi
Baker each had six kills to lead the Spartans offense.
Austin Peay opens its OVC and
home schedules with a 7 p.m., Friday, contest against Murray State.
