BRENTWOOD - Austin Peay State
University junior libero Paige Economos and senior setter Sarah Alisaleh each
received one of the Ohio Valley Conference's weekly awards, the league office
announced, Monday. In addition, senior middle blocker Jessica Mollman was named
the Buccaneer Classic's "Most Valuable Player."
Economos, of Crystal Lake,
Ill., was named the league's "Libero of the Week" after receiving Buccaneer
Classic all-tournament honors last weekend. She led the Lady Govs with 58 en route to her second
consecutive all-tournament recognition. She recorded 24 digs in four sets
against host East Tennessee followed by 17 digs in three-set sweeps against
both UNC Asheville and UNC Greensboro. Opponents hit just .149 against the Lady
Govs in the tournament.
Alisaleh, of San Antonio,
Texas, was the league's "Setter of the Week," her third career honor, after
posting 105 assists (11.67 assists per set) during the Buccaneer Classic. She had
four kills and 25 assists while playing three of the four sets against East
Tennessee. Alisaleh followed that with 43 assists and nine digs against UNC
Asheville. She finished the tournament with 37 assists and 11 digs against UNC
Greensboro.
Mollman, of Cincinnati, Ohio,
was named the Buccaneer Classic's "Most Valuable Player" after leading Austin
Peay with 32 kills in three matches. She committed just eight errors in 61
attempts and finished the weekend with a .393 attack percentage. She recorded
15 kills and a .440 attack percentage against host East Tennessee. Mollman
added nine kills against UNC Asheville and eight kills (.438 attack percentage)
against UNC Greensboro.
The Lady Govs, who are 9-1 and won
their last eight matches in a row, open their home and Ohio Valley Conference
schedules when they host Murray State in a 7 p.m., Friday contest at the Dunn Center.
