Box Score CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State
University's volleyball team had few answers for visiting Lipscomb's offensive
onslaught, losing a three-set decision (25-12, 25-17, 25-18), in non-conference
action, Tuesday night, at the Dunn Center.
Lipscomb (10-5) entered the
night fresh off losing all three matches at the Saint Louis Invitational, last
weekend. The Lady Bisons quickly showed they weren't suffering a hangover from
that experience, leading all three sets wire-to-wire.
Austin Peay (11-2) could not
find its rhythm on either offense or defense. The offense was limited to just
31 kills and a season-low .147 attack percentage. Sophomore Nikki Doyle found
some success, recording a team-best 10 kills, but also committed four errors
and finished with a .214 attack percentage.
The Lady Govs middle blockers -
seniors Jessica Mollman and Taylor Skinner - had the most successful nights on
offense. Mollman finished with eight kills, one error and a .500 attack
percentage while Skinner recorded six kills, an error and a .357 attack
percentage.
Kaycee Green led Lipscomb with
16 kills and Meghan Hinemeyer added 14 kills. Alex Kelly, the Lady Bisons
leading hitter entering the night, was called on to record just eight kills.
Lipcomb finished the night with 50 kills against 10 errors to record an
impressive .400 attack percentage.
Austin Peay, which saw its
10-match win streak stopped with the loss, returns to Ohio Valley Conference
play when it travels to Tennessee Tech for a 7 p.m., Friday contest.
