Box Score NASHVILLE - Austin Peay State
University's volleyball team was unable to get its offense in order, falling to
Tennessee State in four sets (17-25, 25-20, 16-25, 20-25) in Ohio Valley
Conference action, Friday night, at Kean Hall.
Austin Peay (9-19, 7-10 OVC)
saw junior outside hitter Nikki Doyle, its leading hitter, held to just nine
kills while recording eight attack errors (0.30 attack percentage). Senior
outside hitter Ilyanna Hernandez carried the load, finishing with 15 kills and
a .353 attack percentage. However, her 15 kills were more than a third of the
Lady Govs 40-kill effort in the match.
Tennessee State (16-9, 11-6
OVC) had no trouble with its offense, Shaquita Williams leading the way with 16
kills and a .448 attack percentage. She was one of four players to reach
double-digit kill territory as the Lady Tigers scored 59 kills and posted a
.296 attack percentage.
Despite the loss, Austin Peay
did not see its position in the OVC regular-season race change, remaining one
game behind Murray State for the sixth spot. The Lady Govs travel to UT Martin
for a 2 p.m., Saturday contest at Skyhawk Fieldhouse.
