Govs return to Chattanooga for Front Runner Invite

CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State University men's cross country team returns to Chattanooga, Saturday, for the Front Runner Invitational. Hosted by Chattanooga, the men's 5K race is scheduled to begin at 2:40 p.m. (CT) on the Moccasin Bend Race Course.

The Govs will face a strong field at this weekend's meet. In addition to host Chattanooga, Austin Peay will be up against Bryan College, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee State and UT Martin.

Austin Peay will be on the Moccasin Bend Course for the second time in 2012. At September's Powerade Invitational, the Govs finished fourth as a team with senior Konnor Kessler (14th) and junior Tyler Kepley (17th) earning their season's first top-20 finish.

Kessler and Kepley were both top-20 runners again at last week's JSU Foothills, leading the Govs to a sixth-place team finish.

"Konnor continues to impress me," said head coach Doug Molnar. "He's really wanting to go out a bang his senior season. He keeps improving each week."

This meet is the Govs final preparation before returning to Oxford, Ala., for the 2012 OVC Championships, Oct. 27.
