Box Score CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State University's volleyball team
will enter the postseason following the sting of a loss after dropping a
three-set Ohio Valley Conference decision (25-13, 25-22, 25-19) to
regular-season champion Morehead State.
With the win, Morehead State (24-6, 16-0 OVC East) completed
an undefeated run through OVC play - the first to do so since 2006 - and will
host the OVC Volleyball Championship that will begin Thursday. Austin Peay
(17-15, 10-6 OVC West) finished second in its division and will be the No. 4
seed in the tournament.
Morehead State dominated play in the first and third sets,
winning in wire-to-wire fashion. Austin Peay put forth a valiant effort in the
second set and actually won the hitting battle, recording 14 kills and a .130
attack percentage against the Eagles 12 kills and .102 attack percentage.
However, Morehead State scored eight of the final 11 points to pick-off the Set
2 win.
Junior middle blocker Lauren Henderson led Austin Peay with
a 12-kill, .611 attack percentage performance. Senior Nikki Doyle added 10
kills and 12 digs in her final home match.
Morehead State's Ellie Roberson led all hitters with 19
kills at a .417 attack percentage.
The schedule for the 2012 OVC Volleyball Championship will
be released later Saturday.
