Basketball Govs to participate in 2012 Cancun Challenge

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University men's basketball team will participate in the 2012 Men's Cancun Challenge in November.

The tourney field will include eight teams, divided into two divisions. Austin Peay will play in Mayan Division along with Gardner-Webb, Howard and Western Carolina. The Riviera Division will be comprised of DePaul, Iowa, Western Kentucky and Wichita State.

Riviera Division teams each will serve as host to a pair of games, Nov. 15 and Nov. 17, before the tourney shifts to the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun for two more days of games, Tuesday, Nov. 20 and Wednesday, Nov. 21. A Moon Palace Resort ballroom is converted into an arena for the basketball games

The Cancun Challenge is owned and produced by Fort Collins, Colo.-based Triple Crown Sports, which also organizes women's college basketball tournaments in Cancun, and the Preseason and Postseason Women's NIT.
