CARY, N.C. - Jordan Hankins, Austin Peay State University's
rising junior second baseman, was among 22 players named to USA Baseball's
Collegiate National Team, Monday.
Hankins, of Wentzville, Mo., joined the Collegiate National
Team in late June and has played in all four of the team's games as part of its
six-game domestic schedule. He is batting .300 in those four contests with
three RBI and has added four walks for a .533 on-base percentage.
The Collegiate National Team invited 25 players to its camp
and finalized its 22-man roster, Monday. The team will conclude the domestic
portion of its schedule with games, Monday and Tuesday, against 28 players from
the 18-under National Team Trials program.
Guided by Tennessee head coach Dave Serrano, the team will continue
its summer slate when it travels to Havana for a five-game series against Cuba
at Latin America Stadium, July 5-9. The
international friendship series will mark the first between the two baseball
powers since 1996.
The US Collegiate National Team will conclude its summer
tour when it travels to The Netherlands for Honkbal Week in Haarlem, July
13-22. Team USA will compete against Cuba, Japan, The Netherlands, Puerto Rico
and Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) in the tournament.
