THE OPENING TIP
LADY GOVS HOST BLUE RAIDERS IN WEDNESDAY MORNING TILT
It will be a bright and early start for Austin Peay women's basketball team when it hosts Middle Tennessee in an 11 a.m., Wednesday contest at the Dunn Center.
In addition to their opponent on the court, the Lady Govs will be playing host to numerous fourth-graders from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System who will be in attendance as part of the first ever “Education Day.” A cooperative effort between APSU athletics and CMCSS, it will provide local students the opportunity to incorporate classroom activities with the action of a women's basketball contest.
Austin Peay is seeking to build on the momentum of an 81-60 victory against Central Arkansas, Saturday. The Lady Govs offense was in rare form, making 59.3 percent of its shots – its best shooting effort in five seasons. Clarksville-product Tiasha Gray led the Lady Govs with 28 points on 13-of-20 shooting. Sophomore Jennifer Nwokocha added a career-high 14 points in the win.
Head coach Carrie Daniels is in her eighth season with a young squad dominated by sophomores and freshmen. The Lady Govs starting lineup has been composed of a senior, junior and three sophomores in the season's first four games with four freshman seeing significant action off the bench.
