CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University women's
tennis team dropped its Ohio Valley Conference opener, 7-0, to Eastern
Kentucky, Saturday, at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.
The Lady Govs (2-8, 0-1 OVC) struggled in their first
conference outing, forcing just one singles match into a third set. Junior Andra Cornea pushed Milena Poffo into a final set in No. 3 singles, eventually
falling 6-0, 4-6, 10-2.
Even the Lady Govs doubles, which had been a staple of good
play of late, struggled Saturday. Austin Peay dropped the doubles point, with Cornea
and sophomore Ornella Di Salvo falling 8-4 to Eastern Kentucky's (8-5, 1-0 OVC)
Melissa Gerritsen and Kristina Labeja in No. 1 singles.
Austin Peay will need to rebound quickly from the defeat,
when they host Morehead State, 10 a.m., Sunday, in Clarksville.
