EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Austin Peay State University women's tennis team's two-match winning streak came to an end against SIU Edwardsville, with the Lady Govs falling, 5-2, to the Cougars, Friday.
After dropping the doubles point, the Lady Govs rebounded to take two of the top three singles matches. Sophomore Ornella Di Salvo knocked off Kali Donner, 6-4, 6-1, moving her to 6-7 during the spring season.
Junior Andra Cornea won her third straight match; after dropping the first set, 2-6, to Sierra Halverson, Cornea dominated the final two sets, 6-1, 6-4, to move to 5-8 this spring.
That would be all for Austin Peay, which drops to 4-9 (1-2 OVC) in 2013. SIU Edwardsville moves to 6-8, after winning its second straight OVC match.
The Lady Govs get a rare Saturday respite before returning to action 10 a.m., Sunday, in Terre Haute, Ind., when they face Eastern Illinois.
