BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University's baseball team will be able to keep a May trip to The Ballpark at Jackson on its itinerary for the next three seasons as the Ohio Valley Conference announced Wednesday its baseball championship will remain in Jackson for the next three seasons.
The Govs have enjoyed their trips to the Ballpark at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park), winning the OVC tournament crown each of the last three seasons and posting a 10-1 record in those three tournament appearances. The OVC Baseball Championship has been held the past four seasons in Jackson.
“The Ballpark at Jackson has become a special place for us,” said Govs head coach Gary McClure. “It is a fantastic facility to host our championship and our players are always excited to play in a top-notch facility. I also know our player's families and fans have always appreciated the hospitality the Jackson Generals staff and the City of Jackson show during the week.”
The home of the Seattle Mariners' Double-A affiliate, the Ballpark at Jackson is scheduled to undergo renovations during the upcoming minor league offseason, including an extensive renovation to its drainage system along with the installation a new playing surface.
The 2014 OVC Baseball Championship is scheduled to be held May 21-25, 2014. The 2014 baseball season begins February 14, 2014… 178 days away.
