Govs bounce back against Tennessee State

CLARKSVILLE – Bouncing back from Saturday's league loss to Belmont, Austin Peay State University men's tennis team made quick work of Tennessee State with a 4-0 win, Sunday, at the APSU Tennis Center.

Austin Peay moved to 7-3 overall with the win and improved to 2-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Tennessee State fell to 0-8 (0-3 OVC) in Sunday's abridged outing.

With Tennessee State only able to field a five-person team due to injury, freshman Manuel Montenegro gained the Govs first victory by default. The Spaniard actually picked up two wins by default this weekend.

Junior Aleksas Tverijonas rebounded from his season's first loss with a straight-set defeat of Kyle Burton 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Junior Iago Seffrin made it two straight wins with a shutout (6-0, 6-0) of Joe Daniels at No. 3.

Sophomore Evan Borowski made the most of his first action since March 1, picking up his fourth win in five chances during spring season with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Branden McClain at No. 4.

The Govs return to action with a rare mid-week OVC tilt at Tennessee Tech, beginning at 1 p.m. in Cookeville.
