CLARKSVILLE –Austin Peay State University women's soccer team returns to its home pitch for a non-conference match against Mississippi, 7 p.m., Friday, at Morgan Brothers Field.
The Lady Govs dropped a pair of matches to Kennesaw State (1-0) and Middle Tennessee (2-0) last weekend in the Blue Raider Classic in Murfreesboro to fall 1-5-0 on the campaign. Austin Peay has been held scoreless since its win 5-2 win over Chattanooga, Aug. 24.
Ole Miss (3-1-2) has claimed wins against Iowa State (1-0), Louisiana Lafayette (5-1) and Minnesota (3-2). Last Sunday, the Rebels played to a 1-1 draw against Memphis and are unbeaten in their last three matches. Offensively, the Rebels are led by junior Olivia Harrison (4G, 0A, 8P) and sophomore Addie Forbus (3G, 2A, 8P). Senior goalkeeper Kelly McCormick has played every minute in goal for Ole Miss, and has a 0.90 goals against average. McCormick was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, Aug. 25
Last Time Against Friday's Opponent
Friday marks the first time that Austin Peay has challenged Ole Miss. The Lady Govs come into the match carrying a 0-4 all-time record against Southeastern Conference teams.
Keep An Eye On…
- Mississippi is the second and final SEC team on the schedule for the Lady Govs, who dropped a 5-2 decision to Alabama, Aug. 24.
- The Lady Govs are led in scoring by sophomore forward Merritt Monger, who found the back of the net twice against Chattanooga, and senior midfielder Claire Pultz who recorded a goal and an assist in the same match.
- Sophomore Gina Fabbro needs two goals to tie Jocelyn Murdoch (2008, 10-12) for 10th all-time.
- In the nets, junior Nikki Filippone leads the goalkeeping platoon with 17 saves in four appearances. Sophomore Katie Emig and freshman Lindsey Todd share the team lead in goals against average with a mark of 2.00
